Kurt Lindner

Striving to seek out simplicity while creating something lasting and enjoyable is the guiding principle in both my life and my creative work. "
"Transitioning from a lifetime in the skilled trades as an electrician to designing and building furniture has been an interesting journey. As I sought to simplify my life and explore more creative pursuits, I found myself drawn to making furniture. The designs are my own and my methods are not always conventional. As I create each piece, I strive to refine the design and simplify the crafting process. As art so often mirrors life, this striving to seek out simplicity while creating something lasting and enjoyable is the guiding principle in both my life and my creative work. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I enjoyed making them for you."

Materials

The materials used in our furniture are taken from the earliest possible sources. We hand select the best rough-cut lumber from a local Vermont exotic wood dealer. We can work with almost any type of wood available.

Steel is purchased in 24 foot sections from a local steel yard. It is hollowed with a thickness of 0.625 inches. This allows the final piece to be incredibly sturdy while remaining light enough to be lifted and moved.

The finish added to protect the wood is an environmentally friendly floor finish from Vermont Natural Coatings. A wax is layered and polished onto every inch of exposed steel to protect against rust.

The Process

By taking raw materials from the earliest source, the quality of the crafting process can be completely controlled. Wood is sawed, planed, sanded, sprayed and finished all in our workshop; steel is precisely cut, ground, welded and waxed in-house. By taking construction into our own hands we can assure the highest levels of care and craftsmanship from raw material to final product.

We take quality down to every detail, especially during the construction of steel frames. Time and care is taken to ensure that every corner is welded at near perfect angles. The frame pieces join so perfectly that no additional welding is needed on the visible seams. Beyond quality, this level of precision adds a clean, unique touch to the design.
